So today is all about football, at least in my mind so if I have anything intersting to say or photograph I’ll be back later with it. The Apple store removed all my programs from my computer so while I have a new screen I don’t have anything to work with yet. On another note I saw the Glenn Ligon show at the Whitney, very powerful work when there is something in the work that makes you search for it. When it is straight up in your face it falls rather flat for me, that’s why I prefer Kara Walker who uses humour as a device to engage the viewer. The pieces about representation of the black male and homosexuality where the strongest for me, especially when not made in a straight literall manner. So the Richard Pryor joke paintings won the day for me. I am wondering who made joke paintings first Glenn Ligon or Richard Prince, I guess it doesn’t matter.
